Six-part formula

Subject → setting → composition → light → finish → constraints

Prompt formula

Build from facts to finish.

Start with what must exist in the frame. Add photographic or material direction only after the subject and setting are clear.

01

Subject

Who or what is in the image, including age group, materials, wardrobe, and defining details.

02

Environment

Where the scene takes place, the time of day, weather, and useful background context.

03

Composition

Shot size, viewpoint, pose, subject placement, lens language, and depth of field.

04

Lighting

One coherent key-light direction, fill, rim light, practical light, or atmospheric condition.

05

Finish

Medium, material texture, color treatment, realism level, and final-use context.

06

Constraints

Counts and exclusions such as no text, no logo, no watermark, or no extra objects.

Reusable template

[subject and attributes], [environment and time], [composition and viewpoint], [lighting setup], [materials and style], [quality or intended use], [counts and exclusions].

Category patterns

Change the vocabulary, not the logic.

Portraits

State that the subject is an adult, then define expression, wardrobe, shot size, lens look, and one believable lighting setup.

Adult subject + expression + wardrobe + shot size + light direction + lens look + natural texture

Products

Describe physical material before mood. Set an exact object count, camera angle, surface, reflections, and whether packaging must be blank.

Exact object + material + angle + surface + key light + commercial context + packaging constraints

Architecture

Anchor the building in a real site. Name the main materials, weather, viewpoint, and small scale references such as people or furniture.

Building type + site + materials + viewpoint + weather + scale reference + realistic structure

Illustration

Choose a specific medium and explain how it behaves: layered paper, embroidery, clay, ink wash, or editorial vector artwork.

Subject + visual medium + material behavior + palette + composition + publication context

Stronger version

Concrete material and lighting instructions replace vague quality words, while count and packaging constraints reduce ambiguity.

Five-step workflow

Prompt, generate, inspect.

Prompting is art direction followed by quality control. Important images need multiple seeds and a full-resolution review.

For Turbo, put essential exclusions in the main prompt. The official workflow uses guidance scale 0 rather than a separate negative-prompt path.

Read the model facts
  1. 01

    Write the factual core

Define the subject, environment, and required objects before adding style language.

  2. 02

    Choose the camera

Set the framing and viewpoint: close-up, full length, top-down, eye level, wide establishing shot, or macro.

  3. 03

    Build one light setup

Describe a clear key light and, only if useful, a fill, rim, practical, or atmospheric light.

  4. 04

    Add texture and finish

Name physical materials, medium, palette, realism level, and the image’s intended use.

  5. 05

    Finish with constraints

Add exact counts and exclusions, then generate several seeds and review each output at full size.

FAQ

Direct prompt answers.

What is the best prompt structure for Z-Image Turbo?+

A reliable structure is subject, environment, composition, lighting, material or style, then constraints. Use concrete visual language and keep the instructions internally consistent.

Do longer Z-Image prompts always produce better images?+

No. A longer prompt helps only when each phrase adds useful visual direction. Repetition, conflicting styles, and several incompatible light sources can make the result less predictable.

Should I use a negative prompt with Z-Image Turbo?+

The official Turbo workflow uses guidance scale 0 and does not use classifier-free guidance. Put essential exclusions at the end of the main prompt, but still inspect the generated result rather than treating exclusions as guarantees.

How can I improve text inside a Z-Image result?+

Put the exact wording in quotation marks, keep it short, specify the language and layout, and review every character at full resolution. Add final brand typography in a design tool when exact production copy matters.

How many variations should I generate?+

Generate several seeds for any important brief. Compare composition, anatomy, counts, text, reflections, and small details instead of assuming the first output represents the prompt’s full range.

Turn the formula into an image.

Start from a complete example, replace its subject and art direction, then compare several seeds.
